Yeah, it's really this time of the morning and I haven't been to bed yet. Well, I almost have. I signed off facebook around 2:20 a.m. and went straight to the shower and got ready for bed. I brushed my teeth, said my prayers, pulled back the covers and got into bed. I can never fall asleep without my tv on but it was off already because my husband had been asleep for a long while. I didn't want to disturb him so I left the room to sit in my arm chair in the den to watch tv. All of a sudden an earlier conversation came to mind and it bothered me a little. I wondered if I was alone in my thinking, if a man's point of view in this situation was so different from a woman's, or was I alone in my thoughts on the subject. Here's the thing....

I DO appreciate every one who helped with my predicament and perplexity with my bewilderment of the mindset of the sexes and/or thinking in general. I did learn a LOT more than I asked for within this particular blog experience, ESPECIALLY about my good and LOYAL friend, Melvin. Love to each of you.

I feel you mom. You are right on on this one. This guy sounds a lot like me and the way I used to think but I am learning that some things are much more important than the $$$$$$$$. I would unhesitantingly spend the $$$$$$$ to come and see mom. You just never know when the last time will be. Those kind of memories are priceless.
Great post.

I agree with Pastor T on this one mother. Besides, the last thing I'm thinking about at eighty is money. The older we get the least important material things become. Great post!
Mother, I may not be the right person to comment on this, but I will, as your son, give my two cents.
I would give anything to be able to just see my momma one more time, let alone celebrate her 80th birthday. I feel that this son ought to talk to me or somebody else who has lost a mom and then decide where that money would be best spent.
I am certain that his momma at that age, just wants to be able to look at her babies any chance that she gets.

Point blank - attending mother's
80th Birthday is not this guy's priority. To be honest, $350 a ticket is a lot of money for some people. But even then, that extra little comment was unecessary and pointless, even if not in the mother's presence. I basically agree with what has been said up to his point.
Though I am not much of a birthday party guy, I think that it is important to be at your mother's
80th birthday celebration.
Mother Vietta,
Without a shadow of a doubt I would be attending my Mothers Birthday. GOD allowed me to enter this world through this woman I must honor her every opportunity I get, this way one of us will be left with a chest full of memories.
As always great post!
GOD Bless~~~

Well, I am on the bandwagon with the rest of the blog family but, then again, I am a very sentimential kind of guy. Things bought in stores are ok but,as Tony R said, "memories are priceless." As a father, the most precious gifts that I have received or could ever receive from my children is the gift of their time, fellowship and yes, those precious memories and moments that cannot be found on any shelf. And being with momma at age 80?, or at any age for that matter? Man, that is PRICELESS!!!!
I think you need to keep remindiing people on a regular basis who 'Melvin' is; this could really confuse some people as it still does me. Even though you've explained the story behind the 'Melvin' and 'Anita' thing, as the baby in the family it is still strange for my parents to do this. Oh well. My opninion doesn't matter. I will have to make this a topic of one of my upcoming blogs.
